Pet Watchers was established in 1986. We are a family-run business consisting of John Viar, Diana Steele, and our adult children—Tyler and Hannah.
Unlike other services we don’t send strangers to your home. Our staff consists of our family and a few long-time friends. Our common bond is our love for animals.
Over the years we have shared our hearts with horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, lizards, snakes, turtles, fish, parrots, mice, rats, ferrets, and a chinchilla. We have also had exotics, such as a kinkajou and sugar glider, and have had the opportunity to rescue squirrels, an opossum, and a broken-winged bat.
John’s first pet was a parakeet he received as a Christmas present at the age of six. To this day, he has a great love for birds, and has raised cockatiels and a blue-and-gold macaw, as well as cats and dogs. Before Pet Watchers, John was in management for twenty-one years and uses those skills to ensure that all Pet Watcher’s customers’ individual and unique pet care needs are followed to the letter.
Diana has had a love for animals as long as she can remember. She grew up with many and enjoyed horseback riding at a young age. She worked in a pet store, and as a Veterinarian Technician. She also worked at different racetracks, such as Belmont Park in NY and Ben White in Florida. She specializes in exotics and horses, but also enjoys “all creatures great and small”.
Hannah has also joined in with her affection for a wide variety of animals. She has worked with exotics and loves all kinds. They sense the love she has for them and they simply adore her.
